New Delhi: On the occasion of International Yoga Day, the Technical Professional Education in India Foundation organized a Yoga Festival at the Slum Home Shelter (Rain Basera) located near Gurudwara Bangla Sahib. This year’s International Yoga Day theme was “Yoga for Healthy Ageing.”
During the event, a yoga instructor guided participants through various yoga postures (asanas) and pranayama exercises. The Foundation’s Director, Balwant Sir, highlighted the importance of yoga, stating that yoga is an invaluable heritage of Indian culture that helps balance the body, mind, and soul, and should be incorporated into daily life.
Providing information about the Foundation’s activities, he said that the organization is empowering underprivileged children, youth, and women by offering skill-training programs in trades such as electrician work, plumbing, carpentry, tailoring, motor mechanics, and hair cutting. He also emphasized that special attention is being given to women’s empowerment through yoga, meditation, and other positive developmental activities.
Remembering the Foundation’s founder, Late Dr. Prabhakar Rao Chaware, Balwant Sir said that he firmly believed that “good health, education, and practical skills are equally essential for progress in life.”
Established in 1985, the Foundation has played a significant role in helping thousands of children and women become self-reliant through skill development training and social support. At the conclusion of the program, refreshments were distributed to all participants.
